Bollywood Review:After making a series of forgettable flops like Aksar and Aggar, Anant Mahadevan has yet again failed to woo the audience with his latest attempt ‘Anamika’. The film flaunts nothing but a flat storyline struggling between suspense and horror.
The story revolves around Vikram Sisodiya (Dino Morea), the owner of a palace in Rajasthan. He travels to Mumbai for converting his palace into a resort. Here he meets the demure Jia Rao (Minissha Lamba), whom he falls for. He marries her but tells her beforehand that he had already been married before to a woman called Anamika. He tells her that his first wife was no more. However, Anamika’s death is unexplained in this part of the story.
When Jia reaches the palace she is mesmerized by its size and also struck by her resemblance to Anamika. Jia becomes a victim of a deep-seated inferiority complex and embarks on a journey to transform her image on the lines of Anamika’s. Vikram detests this as he does not want to relive old memories.
Jia is left at the crossroads of life when her husband Vikram is accused of conspiring Anamika’s murder. Vikram’s brother-in-law who is also a cop blames him for the crime. Now Jia can trust only Malini, the Governess of the Gajner Palace who becomes her sole confidante.
Here, the story takes a turn as Anamika’s ex-lover emerges on the scene. The subsequent events that follow force Jia to confront certain facts and a secret gets disclosed.
All in all, the film is a failed attempt on a suspense-thriller. The story completely lacks the content worth appreciation. And the music of this flick simply adds on to the list of the forgettable debacles that Anu Malik has been composing, of late.
